Welcome to Dave's Guitar Project Site!

I created this site in order to catalog and showcase my various projects that I work on, as well as my current gear that I use for making music.

Who am I? I'm just a hobbyist who can barely be called a musician who has a love for making music and putting together tools to assist in doing so! I find the most fun in taking old beat up instruments and restoring them to like new condition, as well as assembling nice looking and playing instruments from various parts I collect. I do my best to detail all the work I do and document it with photos so anyone can see how it works. I usually build things to my own taste, but occasionally I actually part with them and they go to homes where they can make the music they were made to since I can't possibly give them all the playtime they deserve! If any of my instruments are for sale, they will be listed as such in their gallery pages. Check out the gallery to see my current lineup! You can also visit the Projects page and follow any of my current projects in their various stages. Feel free to e-mail me through the Contact page if you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer anything I can!

A common question: WILL I WORK ON YOUR BASS? The answer is, it depends. If you're looking for refinish/repair/electronics/parts replacement, yes I can do that. I don't want to work on a vintage piece worth thousands, though. Keep in mind this isn't my day job and I probably won't have the fastest turnaround time. I will, however, probably work cheaper since having the opportunity to do this without shelling out my own cash for parts would be nice sometimes. It's also probably a safe bet that if I'm doing something for someone else, it will take priority over my own projects in most cases. Contact me about anything you want done and we'll talk. Use my contact page here to e-mail me, or my TalkBass Id is dave120, PM me there! If fretwork and more major repairs, or a whole custom bass are what you need, talk to my friend Brian whose site can be found below. I've been working with him for years and have always been pleased with his work and pricing. He can probably also get your bass done more quickly than I can and I won't be hesitant to say anything he does for you will likely be better than what I can do. He's a professonal, and I'm a hobbyist. That's about all I can say.

Do I sell my project basses? Sometimes. Contact me if you're interested in anything I've worked on. Usually I will mention at the bottom of the pages if I've already sold them. Some I will not part with, but most times I'm willing to talk even if I don't explicitly list them as being for sale. Sometimes I do need to move some along to new homes and make space for all the new projects coming in! I am also usually in the market for parts, so if you've got an old beater bass or parts of a bass that need some love, let me know! I would love to have some land in my lap instead of having to hunt down projects all the time.

I'd like to give a big thanks to Brian over at Buzzards Bass Shop for being a type of mentor in my instrument building endeavors. Without his help I would have far less knowledge about this subject and probably wouldn't have attempted as much as I have. He also does great work on basses and he's the one who put together my primary basses!  I'd also like to thank my dad for assisting me in a fair amount of the projects seen on this site, both with ideas and experience working with the tools that I am still learning how to use.
